Fabric Roses

I found this neat tutorial for making fabric roses on Calamity Kim's blog. Check it out here.

I made some with a few scraps the other day and sewed them on to this tank. I sewed around the edges with my machine and then carefully hand sewed the "petals" from behind so that they would stay put. I appliqued the leaves on with a simple zig-zag stitch. I am pretty hard on my clothes, especially the ones I wear to work. I get grease, sauce, juices, oils, all kinds of stuff splattered on them so I wash them a lot. I double threaded when I hand sewed, so that they would really stay put. Mia splashed tomato seeds on it already and I tossed it in the wash on gentle and dried it and the roses still look good!

I love the look of fabric flowers, especially embellished on a top or something, so I scoured the web and found a few tutorials:

Can't wait to try these out too!
